The CHAIN BRAKE

is a safety feature which is activated if pressure is applied against the guard or when, in the

event of kickback, the operator’s hand strikes the lever. When the CHAIN BRAKE

is activated, chain movement

abruptly stops and the power supply to the motor is immediately cut off.

The purpose of the CHAIN BRAKE

is to reduce the possibility of injury due to kickback. The CHAIN BRAKE

can-

not, however, provide the measure of intended protection if the saw is carelessly operated.

The CHAIN BRAKE

is disengaged (chain can move) when the brake is pulled back and locked. This is the normal

running position (Figure 4-4A).

The CHAIN BRAKE

is engaged (chain cannot move) when the brake is in forward position (Figure 4-4B).

NOTE: The motor will not start if the CHAIN BRAKE

is in the engaged position.

CAUTION

The CHAIN BRAKE

should not be used for starting and stopping the saw during normal operation.

CHAIN BRAKE

TEST

Before cutting with your saw, the CHAIN BRAKE

should be tested as follows:

A. Make sure the CHAIN BRAKE

is disengaged (Figure 4-4A).

B. Place the saw on a firm, flat, dry surface that is clear of any debris. Do not let the saw come in contact with any

objects.

C. Plug the unit into the power source.

D. Grasp the front handle (not the CHAIN BRAKE

/Hand Guard Lever) with your left hand. Thumb and fingers should

encircle the handle.

E. Grasp the rear handle with your right hand. Thumb and fingers should encircle the handle.

F. Depress the LOCK/OFF button with your right thumb. Squeeze the trigger with your index finger. (See Figure

4-1D.)

G. While the motor is running, activate the CHAIN BRAKE

by rolling your left hand forward against the lever.

H. Chain and motor should stop abruptly.

WARNING

If the chain and motor fail to stop when the CHAIN BRAKE

is engaged, take the saw to the nearest McCulloch

Authorized Service Center. Do not use the saw if the CHAIN BRAKE

is not in proper working order.

TEST DE CHAIN BRAKE

Avant d’effectuer tout travail de coupe avec votre tronçonneuse, CHAIN BRAKE

devrait être testé de la manière suiv-

ante :

A. S’assurer que CHAIN BRAKE

est débloqué. (Voir Figure 4-4A).

B. Poser la tronçonneuse sur une surface plane, ferme et sèche, exempte de débris. Ne pas laisser la tronçonneuse

C. Brancher l’appareil dans une prise électrique.

D. Saisir la poignée avant (pas CHAIN BRAKE

/ ou le levier du protège-main) avec le main gauche; pouce et doigts

resserrés autour de la poignée.

E. Saisir la poignée arrière ; pouce doigts resserrés autour de la poignée.

F. Enfoncer le bouton d’ARRET/BLOCAGE avec le pouce droit. Appuyer sur le commutateur avec l’index. (Voir

Figure 4-1D.)

G. Pendant que le moteur tourne, actionner CHAIN BRAKE

en faisant glisser votre main vers l’avant, contre le

levier.

H. la chaîne et le moteur devraient s’arrêter instantanément.

AVERTISSEMENT

Si la chaîne et le moteur ne s’arrêtent pas quand CHAIN BRAKE

est bloqué, apporter la tronçonneuse au Service

Après-Vente McCulloch agréé le plus proche. Ne pas utiliser la tronçonneuse si CHAIN BRAKE

ne fonctionne pas

correctement.

PRUEBA DEL CHAIN BRAKE

Antes de cortar con su sierra, el CHAIN BRAKE

deberá ser probado como sigue:

A. Asegúrese de que el CHAIN BRAKE

se encuentre desactivado. (Vea la Figura 4-4A.)

B. Coloque la sierra en una superficie firme, plana, seca que este libre de cualquier escombro. Ne deje que la cade-

C. Conecte la unidad a la fuente de poder.

D. Agarre la manija frontal (no la palanca de el CHAIN BRAKE

/ Guardamanos) con su mano izquierda. El pulgar

y los dedos deberán rodear la manija.

E. Agarre la manija trasera. El pulgar y los dedos deberán rodear la manija.

F. Oprima el botón de SEGURO / LIBRE con su pulgar derecho. Apriete el gatillo con su dedo indice. (Vea la Figura

4-1D).

G. Mientras el motor está en marcha, active el CHAIN BRAKE

moviendo su mano izquierda hacia adelante contra

la manija.

H. La cadana y el motor deberan detenerse abruptamente.

ADVERTENCIA

Si el motor y la cadena fallan al deternerse cuando el CHAIN BRAKE

es activado, lleve su sierra a su Centro de

Servicio Autorizado McCulloch. No utilice su sierra si el CHAIN BRAKE

no esta funcionando propiamente.
